Team Reports - Explaining Bench Starts Report

What is the 'Bench Starts Report'?

This report helps coaches and club administrators keep track of two important metrics. The first is how many times a player has started the match on the bench, and the second is how many times a player has started the period on the bench.

Either one or both metrics can be used to evaluate a fair spread of occurrences that a player has started on the bench.

How is the bench start report produced?

Rookie Me Play will capture the list of players who were on the bench at the beginning of any given period.

Importantly, this metric does NOT include if a player is in the injury or disciplinary bucket. If a player is in any bucket other than bench, this will not be counted towards the totals on this report.

An example is provided below:

Here in figure 1, the bench start report is viewable by total and also as a percentage of total games played.

What is the bench spread rating?

The Bench Spread Rating is a score calculated out of 100 in the exact same way as the Rookie Me Fair Game Time calculation.

In short the score is calculate based on the percentage spread across all players, for example if all players have 20% starting a game or period on the bench then the rating will be 100 out of 100. If some players have not started on the bench at all for a season (e.g., 0%) but some players have started on the bench 50% of the time then the rating will be greatly reduced.

Bench spread ratings can be found at the bottom of the report but is only calculated if you select percentage at the top of the report in the tool bar
